James Bernazzani, Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Division of the FBI and Warren Riley, NOPD Superintendent announced that at approximately 11:30 today, three masked individuals armed with assault rifles robbed a guard of Intertrust Armored Service as a delivery of money was being made to Capital One Bank at 1100 S. Carrollton, New Orleans.
A guard was forced inside the bank when gunfire was exchanged. No injuries were sustained as a result of the gunfire.
The robbers, dressed in dark clothing, fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in a stolen white Dodge Caravan. The Caravan was recovered in the 8200 block of Maple Street where the robbers are believed to have been met by an accomplice in a white Dodge Magnum. Another stolen vehicle, a black Dodge Intrepid, which was driven to the bank by the robbers was left behind at the bank.
The Metropolitan Orleans Bank Security Association offers a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and Indictment of the robbers. Anyone with information is asked to call the FBI at 504-816-3000.
