Mark A. Gant entered on duty with the FBI on May 21, 1989 and was assigned to the Memphis Division until July 1997. During his tenure there, Mr. Gant was assigned to the White Collar Crime Squad and worked a variety of other criminal violations.
From July 1997 until July 1999, Mr. Gant was assigned to the Office of Professional Responsibility, Internal Investigation Unit at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. During this assignment, Mr. Gant investigated numerous sensitive internal investigations.
In July 1999, Mr. Gant transferred to the Dallas Division. While assigned to Dallas, Mr. Gant supervised the Economic Crimes Squad, the Organized Crime Squad, and the Violent Crime Squad. In addition, Mr. Gant was assigned other miscellaneous duties, including supervision of a Drug Intelligence component in a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and supervision of background investigations.
In January 2003, Mr. Gant was promoted to Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Division. In this capacity, Mr. Gant had administrative and operational program management responsibilities for the public corruption program, terrorism program, organized crime/drug program, violent crime program, and white collar crime program and oversaw the administration of the six FBI resident agencies throughout the state of Louisiana. Mr. Gant was the program manager for Equal Employment Opportunity, Evidence Response Team, and Office of Professional Responsibility matters and also had the administrative responsibility for professional support staff.
Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Gant was a manager in several different industries, including textiles, contract cleaning, and bank operations.
Mr. Gant is a native of Burlington, North Carolina and graduated from Davidson College with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.
Effective April 25, 2008, Mr. Gant was designated Acting Special Agent in Charge of the New Orleans Division of the FBI.
