NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -HENRY DEEB GABRIEL, III, age (23), a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was charged in a Second Superseding Indictment today with additional charges arising out of an investigation related to the overdose dose death Madeleine Prevost, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.
Previously, GABRIEL was charged with conspiring with other known individuals to distribute quantities of heroin and cocaine hydrochloride, distribution of a quantity of heroin that led to the death of Madeleine Prevost, and distributing heroin to Ms. Prevost, a person under twenty-one years of age. According to the Second Superseding Indictment, GABRIEL now also faces an additional charge of distributing heroin to a person under twenty-one years of age and attempting to corruptly obstruct, influence or impede an official proceedinga
If convicted, GABRIEL faces a maximum term of imprisonment of twenty (20) years, a fine of up to $1,000,000 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment as to the drug conspiracy charge (Count One); a sentence of no less than twenty (20) years imprisonment up to life imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000,000 and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment as to the drug distribution charge that led to Ms. Prevost’s death (Count Two); a sentence with a minimum term of imprisonment of one year and a maximum of forty (40) years imprisonment, a fine of up to $1,000,000 and six (6) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment as to the distribution of heroin to a person under twenty-one years of age (Counts Three and Four); and a sentence of up to twenty years imprisonment, a fine of up to $250,000 and not more than three (3) years of supervised release for attempting to corruptly obstruct, influence, or impede an official proceeding (Count Five).
U. S. Attorney Letten reiterated that the Indictment is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorneys William J. Quinlan, Jr. and Maurice Landrieu.
