WASHINGTON STATE MAN SENTENCED TO 51 MONTHS IN FEDERAL
PRISON FOR BANK ROBBERY
NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA -THOMAS WILLIAM
HARPER, age (33) a resident of Walla Walla, Washington, was sentenced
by U. S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance to fifty-one (51) months imprisonment
for Conspiracy to Commit Bank Robbery and a single count of Bank
Robbery, announced U. S Attorney Jim Letten.
In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Vance imposed three (3) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment. During
the three year term the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks
an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised
release.
According to court documents, on December 12, 2007,THOMAS WILLIAM HARPER entered a guilty plea before Judge Vance admitting to conspiring with others to rob the Iberia Bank on November 28, 2006 and the Whitney Bank on December 6, 2006. Both banks were located in Metairie. HARPER’s
co-defendants, Todd Exum Gower and Melissa Metlzer are serving federal sentences
of 60 and 21 months respectively.
After sentencing, THOMAS WILLIAM HARPER was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s
Service to begin his term of imprisonment with the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
This investigation was handled by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The
case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney, Abe McGull of the Violent
Crime Unit.
