LOCAL WOMAN SENTENCED FOR MAKING FALSE KATRINA AID CLAIM NEW ORLEANS , LOUISIANA - ROSHONDRA CELIOUS, age 27, a resident of New Orleans , Louisiana , was sentenced today in connection with her guilty plea to a federal felony involving Hurricane Katrina fraud, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. ROSHONDRA CELIOUS was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Jay C. Zainey to five (5) years probation which includes a five (5) month period of home detention; 100 hours community service; and restitution to FEMA in the amount of $10,391.51. According to the bill of information, CELIOUS requested and received approximately $10,391.51 in disaster assistance to which she was not entitled because she falsely claimed to live at 3317 Leonidas Street , New Orleans , Louisiana , when in fact she did not live there at the time Katrina struck. The case was investigated agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and is being prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Irene González.
